Ökoeffizienz, Soziale Verantwortung und nachhaltige Projekte

Companies of any type around the world are loosing huge amounts of money due to inefficient use of natural resources like water, electricity, chemicals and raw materials.

Some managers do underestimate the high costs (fines, bad corporate image, reduced competitiveness, social conflicts, etc.) caused by the lack of a clear corporate environmental policy. Other managers use their environmental policies to reduce the levels of contamination caused to only just what’s in the law. Both are missing out on taking advantage of the benefits a sustainable and eco-efficient management could deliver.

Good managers however do understand that “just doing the minimum required” in order to avoid legal and social problems is a weak corporate strategy in a world that grows more environmental sensitive by the day.

Eco-efficiency means to produce more services or goods while using less natural resources and contaminating less. Many times companies can save 10-40 % of their annual production costs when implementing a bold and serious program to become eco-efficient.

The ecological footprint is a tool to measure the environmental impact a company causes and to monitor their advances in becoming more environmental friendly and as such more sustainable.

Since 2008 I am teaching eco-efficiency and sustainability in tourism companies at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) in Lima. In 2012 I published the book “Sustainability and eco-efficiency in the modern company”

I am consulting companies by offering the following services:

  • Measuring the companies ecological footprint
  • Helping companies to reduce their environmental impact by saving energy, water and raw materials in the production process
  • Developing internal communication strategies to implement environmental management schemes
  • Supporting the process of internal change towards environmental management
  • Developing external communication strategies in order to promote the positive results of environmental improvements to their clients and a wider public
