2013

  • Undercover investigation and publication on the massive illegal killing of dolphins for shark bait. The cruel slaughter of dolphins and sharks was filmed.


Unfortunately, the Peruvian government, instead of acting to solve the problem, acted against Mundo Azul, publicly accusing the NGO of lying, ordering the end of cooperation between the National Police and Mundo Azul and putting the NGO on a blacklist to cut off the reception of foreign donations. The government's actions in combination with threats from artisanal fishermen against the lives of Mundo Azul workers and against the safety of the NGO's vessels put an end to the dolphin research program and led to the company Nature Expeditions SAC, which co-financed the NGO through dolphin watching trips, having to file for bankruptcy. Because of the lack of finance Mundo Azul could only work on a few selected projects over the following years to come.

Scientific advisor and representative of the Front for the Defense of the Bay of Ancón against the port project of the company Santa Sofía Puertos S.A, Grupo Romero.

Consultancy collectively financed by various associations and private donors in order to review the environmental impact study of the port project, as well as organize the defense at its different levels and aspects (strategic planning, workshops, lobbying, local, national and internet communication , creation of local and national strategies,…).

The support of the Congress of the Republic was achieved, who by unanimous vote declared the Bay of Ancón intangible. The Bay was established as a marine protected area. The port project was permanently stopped.

Associations of artisanal fishermen of Tumbes Scientific advisor

  • Consultancy collectively financed by several associations of artisanal fishermen from the department of Tumbes in order to review the environmental impact study of the BPZ oil company.
